Woodswork successfully achieves an innovative sound by creating original rock music that incorporates classical violin, three part harmonies, male and female vocals, and piano. This combination of talent results in songs that seep out emotion, live shows that radiate with energy, and a loyal following of fans who can’t get enough. “Woodswork is doing it right with a triumphant glowing sound… All of them play with the pride of lions and their hearts sing with a glow that encompasses something ineffably pure,” comments Laurin Wollan in Music Monthly.

Woodswork’s conception began in early 2001 with the break-up of the band Trading Campus. Two of its members, singer/guitarist Matthew Ferenschak and violinist Eugene Yun decided to seek out a new band that could make their musical vision a reality. After one jam session which included Matthew's brother, Greg Ferenschak and Lindsay Kuczinski, Woodswork was born.

Woodswork picked up where Trading Campus left off, building a loyal college following. Woodwork’s original sound has been compared to that of the Agents of Good Roots, Fleetwood Mac, the Dave Matthews Band, and Rusted Root. During shows, Woodswork’s original material is complemented with popular covers such as “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and “For What it’s Worth.” The band’s fan base continues to grow--the release party for their CD Life in Dead Trees drew a crowd of about 600 fans eager to hear them play. The members of Woodswork are confident that they extended their fan base on September 21, 2002 when they opened for Howie Day and Vanessa Carlton at the Towson Center.

Woodswork has recently received press in Baltimore papers such as the Towson Towerlight and The Baltimore Sun. “We are excited about the release of our CD and about the press we have been receiving, but we are even more excited that people are enjoying our music. As long as we are making quality music and people are relating to it, we will consider ourselves successful,” explains singer Matthew G. Ferenschak. Along with building a reputation in the Baltimore/D.C. area, Woodswork plans on continuing to take its music to other cities.
